The best party does not have to be the biggest party in the whole world. Some of the best parties can just be having a small sleep over with some of your good friends.

Here are some ideas to get you started

Take your friends to go bowling

Go to your favorite restaurant

Have a sleep over

Go to the movies

Go to a zoo or aquarium

Go to paint your own pottery shop

Have a your own restaurant party were the girls make there own food and take turns being a waiter.

Go to a horse barn and ride horses

get party mystery packs from stores 

 

Remember have a party on the thing you like not what your friends like.

 

 

Out with the flu

When you are at home with some kind of sickness or some thing on a school day here is what you should check up on and do.

    It might feel good to you that you have no work to do and nothing to worry about. Actually your teacher may hand out a study guide for a big test or even little home work. If you miss that it could affect your grade latter on. The teachers are going to be more strict about there due dates and deadlines and having an absence in there class is going to make them a little annoyed. Make sure the day you back to school you go to that teacher and ask for papers that you missed in class that day and brief summery of the things that she taught that day. Also remember to turn in a late assignment the day your teacher told you to, don't turn in a late assignment on Friday when it was due on Wednesday. This if a good way to make your teacher mad because they are busy and they have other things to do. 

  A good way to know if you have home work on a day that you missed is to call one of your friends in that class and then you can know that you have to go talk to that teacher the next day. Also ask her if your teacher said any thing important so you can know to.

 

  If you are out of school for more than 2 days and planning to stay in bed a little longer. Ask your mom to call your school to gather any home work and assignments from all your teachers so your friend can pick it up and give it to you. Write down any questions you have about the assignments on a sticky note a put it on that assignment. This will show your teacher that you are serious about your work.

Get Moving

   A lot of girls have trouble finding fun ways to get active. Most of the times you think about doing it but then you forget about it. The best way to solve this problem is making exercise a daily routine so every day pick a time when you are not busy with home work and other things. It could be before dinner then when you are done you can sit down with a nice meal. Just pick what ever works for you. Note that it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to break a habit so it would take that much time of not talking on the phone or watching TV to want to be out side.   

 A good thing to look into is some fun active games that get you moving like the Wii or games with dance pads. The best way to know if you got a good work out is if you have a lot of sweat. It may seem gross and icky but you will feel the accomplishment of getting out there.   

 

 In some school you go into they may have you run a mile in Gym class if so this can seem scary if it is your first time. I can be really hard to if you are graded on this and also timed. The best way to run a mile and not feel like you are very out of breath and legs sore is Practice. The best time to practice is during the summer time before school so you will have a lot of time. But when you are busy like during school days is to walk it doesn’t have to be a long one earthier. Also when you are training it is best to take small steps each day like the first day. You just try walking a half a mile then the next day do the same the start walking a mile. Once you are comfortable with that try to speed walk and try to beat your time that you set the other day. Remember to give you self a break between a few days of training to let your body rebuild its strength. Also do some breathing exercises to help you not feel so not of breath. All you have to do is a few times a day deeply breathe and breathe out. This will help your lungs become more used to breathing so heavily.

Bad Dreams

A lot of girls have bad dreams and end up not getting enough sleep trough the night. Use these tips to help through the night.

  • When you have bad thoughts or bad dreams think to yourself that you are a thousand times bigger than what your afraid of and think that they look like loony and zaney cartoon characters on T.V.  and blow them away.
  • Walk around your room and look every where, even under the bed. You will find nothing there.
  • Pick your favorite stuffed animals and border them around whatever place looks very scary.
  • Put a cool night light or small lamp in your room to light up your room.
  • Avoid watching scary or disturbing movies or T.V shows before going to bed.
  • Thinking about stuff you could dream about also helps. For example thinking about you owning your business or what you are going to be when you grow up helps to keep your mind off it.
  • You can also write down your scary dreams in a journal.

When you have a big exam or test coming up and you feel a little behind on studying here are some tips to help you study. 

  • See how many days you have until the big exam, then plan out how you are going to study along with getting all of your other homework done
  • If your teacher gives you a study packet, USE it, and if you are missing papers or have questions, ASK them.
  • If your teacher did not give you a study packet, use your notes to make mini quizes that you can work on with your parents.
  • Make sure you pay attention the last few days in class, because that is when your teachers are going to tell you more info that can help you on the test
  • Make sure your notes are readable so you can actually study from them
  • Make sure that you have a good nights sleep before the test. This will make it easier for you to concentrate and focus
  • Make sure that you have a nice breakfast because studies have shown that a brain works better with food in your system.
  • Before your teacher hands out the test, take a few deep breathes and remember to DO YOUR BEST                                  

 

 

  

Save your $MONEY$

Your grandma gave you a $30 for your birthday you want to spend it right away or should you put it in your piggy bank for a bigger purchase later?

A lot of girls run into money troubles and end up having no money any where. If you can't manage your money when you are a kid, what are you going to do when you are a grownup?

The thing to do have a plan to save it. If you get a bunch of money, you can spend some of it, but save a big part of it. You should also put it in a safe place too. Each time you get money  from doing your chores, loosing a tooth, washing the dog  put it in that place. Then when you think you have enough money take it out and count it. Then you can think how much you are willing to spend for that cute summer dress.

Also save your change, it all adds up and you can go to a bank and they will trade you change for cash. You get a good feeling when you know that you have a lot of money and that you are not broke.

Ways to make Money

  • do chores
  • get good grades

  • make a play and sell tickets
  • wash the dog
  • take more care of your pets
  • open a dog walking service
  • babysit
  • make a lemon aid stand
  • have a garage sale
  • babysit pets
  • ace a test

Brush Your Teeth

It may be the simplest thing in the world to do, yet is is so hard to remember. Brushing your teeth is very important in a healthy girls life and it SHOULD be done two times every day.

gumsoft-picks.jpgThey way you are supposed to brush your teeth is you have to get the front, back and top of every tooth. You should brush for at least 2 minutes.

After you're done with all of that you have to floss through every tooth sliding in there and scraping the plaque off the sides. If you have a hard time using the string floss, especially girls with braces, there is product called Gum Soft-Picks and they have these thin little rubber strips that slide in between your teeth. These were recommended by my Dentist since I recently got my braces.

You may also want to consider using mouth wash every night so you will wake up with a fresh smile. Try to avoid using the mouth washes with strong flavors because you may end up spiting it out. You can also fight bad breath by brushing your tongue every time you brush your teeth.


The book "Staying Home Alone" really helped me about deciding when I should start staying home alone. It also  helped my parents to feel like I would be safe. This book has tips on beating boredom, solving hunger problems and even punch out emergency cards.

Staying home alone can be scary some times and this book will show you what you need in your house to make sure your as safe as possible. One section in the book I really like was the golden rules of staying home alone. For example, " I promise to always lock the doors. Never let any one into the house." etc.

The book is easy to understand and is a fun read.You and your parents will feel better once you know the ups and downs of staying home alone.

Sticky Situations

Chicken

Come on Bridget all you have to do is sneak in through the back door and take the vase. Oh no! I think you know what this sounds like. It's Peer Pressure and it is not uncommon for a girl to get over powered by it. Peer pressure can be very scary and harsh. Use these helpful and clever ways to deal with peer pressure.

What do I do?

When you get caught in peer pressure, the best answer you should say is NO. But as easy as it seems, it can be very hard. When you're asked to do some thing that your "friends" told you to do, first think to yourself what are the consequences of me doing this? Most of the consequences are bad. Then think what will happen if I don't do this? The worst that can happen would be your friends calling you a coward and a chicken for a couple of days. That is not as bad as getting yelled at by your parents, teachers, or the principal. Also don't forget the guilt that will build up over time. Some times peer pressure can even involve the police. Once you thought of all of this tell them straight out NO then walk away. Don't even listen to them when they're teasing you because you are smart and they are dumb.     

Tip

Ask your mom or dad to think of peer pressure scenarios and you have to have to find the answer to talkel them so you will be prepared when the time comes. 

 
I Got away with it now what happens?

You got approval from your friends, now it's over right? Wrong. Your friends are going to make you do worse things each time and then the guilt gets bigger. The guilt you create is very stressful on your body and heart and can almost become unbearable. You can get rid of this feeling by telling some like your parents what you did. Pick a calm time to talk to your mom and dad and tell them every thing that happened and tell the truth.

They may get mad at you for what you did but it still feel better to get those things off your chest. The next step is to say sorry to all people you hurt and pay the consequences. Your parents may not trust you after all off this but it is the first step to gain the trust that was lost.                 

Tip

The best way too avoid all of this is to say no and walk away before it starts.


Snappy Comebacks

Snappy comebacks are a different way of saying no. Use these not too rude come backs to help you say no in peer pressure.    

"Sorry guys but I actually have a good life to get back to."      

" I am a little confused because if your so brave why don't you do it." 

" Know what? I personally think that I should be calling you a coward because I don't see you doing any of this."  

"Sorry but I actually think about things before I do them." 

"I can not believe that you think that I am that dumb."

"I am actually smart unlike some other people."

Fights with Friends

Great 

You just got into a fight with a friend over a dumb eraser she thinks you stole. What do you do? First take at least 5 minutes to cool down and think of what you are going to say. You should say sorry even if you didn't start the fight, it is just a comforting word to start out talking. Tell her the truth and say that you didn't steal the eraser and you feel sad that she doesn't believe you. Tell that you two still want to be friends and an eraser shouldn't come between you two of making that happen. This should send a message to your friend that it was dumb to fight and you two should still be friends.


Caught Between the Two

Oh no! Your two friends Jen and Lisa are at it again fighting about something. Then suddenly they stomp off in different directions. That afternoon you get a phone call from Lisa and she starts talking about all the bad things Jen did and how bad Jen is. Later that afternoon you get a call from Jen and she too starts talking about how bad Lisa is. This is so frustrating, what do you do?

First of all when ever some is talking behind some one else's back and you don't like the things your hearing, tell them that you feel offended. Tell them that it is really mean and cruel to say those things. Then just walk away.

But if your are on the phone, tell them the same thing and say you have to go. If she says your mean and cruel don't believe her because you are doing the right thing. When two friends are being mean to each other, tell them personally that you don't like them fighting and it makes you feel uncomfortable.

As a last resort of getting away from the frustration, tell them that you need to take a break from this friendship and have to think it over. Taking a break from a friendship can be hard but it lets you have time to think about what you are going to do next. This doesn't mean that you have to be mean to them and ignore them, it just means that you won't come over to each others houses until you feel ready.  You will not talk to each other as much but you can say hi to her in the hallways and still be kind to her.

Remember say how your feeling about these situations and trust yourself for making the right decision.

Think to yourself
